Motocross helmets are becoming more and more popular on our trail
systems each year. As a result, like most things in our favourite
sport, products evolve as markets increase. We have a lot more options
for goggles that are suited to our high speed and cold environment,
rather than a converted MX or ski goggle.
HaberVision has also stepped into this game, with a high quality polarized lens goggle with a very interesting option. Haber has developed a small, moisture activated exhaust fan that can not only attach to their very high quality goggles, but to most any goggle you may already own. The little fan unit attaches inside the goggle on the top vent foam with two little thumb screws. This situates it above your sightline; you’ll never even notice it until you hold it away from your face. The fan senses any moisture build-up inside the goggle that might be caused by anything from warm breath not vented out of your balaclava, to a big sweat brought on by digging out of that deep bowl that your buddy dared you into. The fan sounds like a little mosquito on your forehead and it is audible to people standing close to you, but as soon as the sled fires up, it is no longer noticeable. The little automatic setting makes sure it isn’t on all the time; most times you never know that it’s keeping watch. There is no vibration whatsoever, and the noise never bothered me, but it did cause one lady at a gas stop to do a double take. I wore them inside to test their reaction in the warmth, assuming they would fog up. Good news; they didn’t. They remained crystal clear. It should be noted that the moisture pushed out of the top vent on colder days will cause a little more frost build up between the goggle and the helmet where they meet. Some ski goggles might not be able to make the transition to use on a high speed snowmobile, but Haber has used nice and comfy, thick foam that fits up inside my MX helmet. The strap was plenty big enough to fit around the helmet and stayed in place, even though it lacked the little silicone grip strips. The HaberVision Highline goggle is available with or without the eliminator option. These high-end, optical quality polarized lens goggles are available from $119.00 USD. The separate eliminator fan unit is available from $60.00 USD. |
