Since my last article, the 2010 Ski-Doo race sleds have arrived and the team is getting set to ride. With that being said, I’ve been busy unloading the sleds from their crates, having them built and shipped out to our head mechanic Wayne, “working on my third chin” Legge. All so he can have those Royal Distributing/Factory Recreation Ski-Doo’s a rocking at our first race in Duluth.
If you thought these times were just busy for the racers and mechanics, you are wrong! Dad (Doug Sagan) has been up late the past couple of weeks organizing our race trailer; he must account for all of our parts and coordinate shipment for the parts we need, along with organize and put away every part in the trailer. There is nothing worse than being at the race track and finding out that you’re missing parts you need to get you to the next race. Dad is not the only one getting the trailer ready. Adding to his to-do list, he’s had to book all the hotels for 18 different events so we always have a roof over our head. Thanks Dad! I can never say enough about those wonderful guys at Royal Distributing; John, Scott, Mark, and Paul. Those guys are doing everything they can to coordinate clothing, parts and sled wraps for the team. They work hard to the very end for our team and it is greatly appreciated!! So now that the sleds have been built, trailers loaded, hotels booked, I’m getting ready to leave for Hill City, Minnesota to start testing with Ski-Doo. If Mother Nature cooperates, we plan to be riding throughout November where we will spend a few weeks testing with factory Ski-Doo, getting the sleds dialed in for Duluth. We’ll be riding with some of the best racers in the world and I’m really excited to see how our stuff matches up. Well it’s time to pull the pen from the paper and get back to the gym. Drew has me on quite the workout program and it’s killing me! I would like to thank all the people that make this dream I live possible: Mom & Dad, John and Marion, Scott, Mark and Paul at Royal, my Cousin Donny and all the staff at Factory Recreation, Aunt Gloria and Uncle George, Cam, Diana Fairty and family, my gorgeous girlfriend Lindsay, Mechanic’s Wayne Legge, Ryan Keller, Dennis, my teammate Lee Butler, Rich Kehoe and OSM, Jeff Goodwin at the Ski-Doo race dept, and all of you I may have forgot. Finally, our sponsors; Royal Distributing, Factory Recreation, Ski-Doo, Stud Boy, FXR, HMK, OSM Magazine, iPhone, C&A Skis, Tekvest, Oakley, OGIO, and Manitoulin Motorsports. |
